Is this the end of traditional marriages free essay sample

Marriage is a fear for some men and a fairy tale dream for most women. A marriage is a commitment between two people. Two people who declare their love for one another. Two people who initially share the same realistic goal to be with each other for a lifetime, without any doubts. In the reading, â€Å"Could Temporary Marriages Reduce the Alarming Rate of Divorce? † by Natalie Rivera explains the idea that temporary marriages can be the ideal matter for some people who do not want to be committed. However, Rivera does not believe in this herself, she believes temporary marriages are not to take into account as a â€Å"traditional marriage† because it overwhelms everything about it being traditional. In today’s age group there is nothing traditional about marriage, this generation we live in has changed the meaning of what â€Å"traditional† is it’s no longer a realistic goal for most people in this day and age; it’s not what our society is following up with. We will write a custom essay sample on Is this the end of traditional marriages? or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page A traditional marriage (in my point of view) is marrying your significant other, living together after marriage and starting a family while being in a monogamous commitment with each other. Every couple who decides to† take it to the next step† by getting married have the ideal purpose to be with their spouse for a lifetime just as their vows said, â€Å"until death do us part†. Nowadays, traditional isn’t necessarily what this generation is pursuing. Some of today’s teenagers have changed the cycle of what traditional marriage should be. For example, several of today’s teenagers decide to have a child first. The father of the child might be pressured to get married with the mother, whom eventually they decided as a couple to divorce. Why? Their relationship did not meet their expectations or they were facing too many problems; as a result of this a higher divorce rate. The society around us transforms the culture we live in; marriage happens to fall into that category. Many people who begin a relationship don’t worry about being monogamous because to them it might not be a concern when they have a deep emotional romantic connection. They don’t believe they are capable of being unfaithful because they love their other half. But as the years pass by, some partners lose their feelings and change their initial way of thinking. This is where the problems begin; infidelity becomes present in most relationships. They might try going to couples therapy to fix their problems, however few will be able to make that change. For the other couples, divorce might be the only resolution. Just as Rivera explains in her reading, the divorce rate in the United States is higher while in Mexico the divorce rate is not comparable. The reason being for that is because Mexico City there is a â€Å"temporary marriage licenses† with the minimum of two years. Could the concept of temporary marriages be the answer couples seek out? Or is this a trouble-free method couple’s lean to? This is another example of this generation changing the definition of what traditional should be. When entering a new relationship we all know communication and honesty is per say an obligation, of course if you want a long term and healthy relationship. These days seems like immature adolescents are more likely to married rather than mature couples. If an immature couple decides to join as one and married and have lack of communication how would they be able to have a stable, happy and successful marriage? If the couple can’t communicate on a regular basis it can turn their relationship bitter; ending in a divorce. Or, if there is lack of honesty, keeping secrets from your spouse and lying, well it can potentially sabotage a relationship. For example, my aunt married at the age of 18 with a man who she knew for less than one year. She said both of them married young and immature. Her marriage only lasted one year; she said it was the worst marriage because they didn’t have any communication, nothing in common and they both lied to each other by being unfaithful. This is another example of divorce and another reason why this society changes the point of view of people. The ending of traditional marriages is because the rises of divorce and it’s also because the society and generation we are growing up has revolutionize into something that has slowly vanished. The definition of traditional; â€Å"relating to or based on tradition†. How do we lie to ourselves by saying traditional still is present when we have this new culture that has damage what traditional means. For example, temporary marriages, how does that compete with tradition, it doesn’t. It overcomes the principle of traditional marriage. Many couples will see their marriage as traditional while others are more open to define the new tradition. Tough, society changes day by day and defines a new age it is no longer a realistic goal for most people nowadays. Tradition is not what society is engaging in our time.

CALDER ) The clip graduated table for finishing the nucleus appraisal of the kid protection program is normally 42 working yearss from the get downing point of the initial appraisal. a nucleus appraisal commences at the point at which the initial appraisal ended, or a treatment on scheme decided to originate certain questions. If a kid has non been registered, but meets the standards for nucleus appraisal as a kid in demand, so appraisal and enrollment should be done within the same clip graduated table, provided that the kid s parents agree to continuation of the appraisal. For every kid who is capable to a protection program, the nucleus appraisal should be carried out harmonizing to the recommendations of the initial conference for kid protection, as developed by the nucleus group supervising the appraisal. During enrollment, the president besides decides which class a kid s name should be placed under or retained on the list, with the determination reflecting on the positions of the parties present during the c onference. It is of import to advise the parents of a kid when their kid s name is to be de-registered from the kid protection service and this presentment should be in composing. all bureaus that are involved with such a kid must besides be informed officially, of the de-registration. that said, the de-registration of a kid from the kid protection list should non automatically do a arrest of the services to the kid, because a kid might still necessitate some extra services and back up even after being removed from the kid protection registry. Therefore, the cardinal societal worker should discourse any needed services with the de-registered kid and the kid s parents. It is besides good pattern to pull up a demand program if governments continue rendering services to a kid for some clip after de-registration. This demand program would be reviewed at intervals of about 6 months until closing. De-registration of a kid from the kid protection program should non needfully take to withdrawal or decrease of support or services to the kid and the kid s household by any or all of the relevant bureaus. This determination to de-register a kid would usually be made by a conference reexamining the instance, with representation and positions from the assorted bureaus that may be involved in the instance of that peculiar kid. If an bureau feels that a kid should non be de-registered, this should be noted inside the proceedingss of the `case conference sing the kid s de-registration. The processs of he child protection commission should depict the mode in which any such dissensions should be resolved.

Creating a Homework Policy With Meaning and Purpose

Creating a Homework Policy With Meaning and Purpose We have all had time-consuming, monotonous, meaningless homework assigned to us at some point in our life. These assignments often lead to frustration and boredom and students learn virtually nothing from them. Teachers and schools must reevaluate how and why they assign homework to their students. Any assigned homework should have a purpose. Assigning homework with a purpose means that through completing the assignment, the student will be able to obtain new knowledge, a new skill, or have a new experience that they may not otherwise have. Homework should not consist of a rudimentary task that is being assigned simply for the sake of assigning something. Homework should be meaningful. It should be viewed as an opportunity to allow students to make real-life connections to the content that they are learning in the classroom. It should be given only as an opportunity to help increase their content knowledge in an area. Differentiate Learning for All Students Furthermore, teachers can utilize homework as an opportunity to differentiate learning for all students. Homework should rarely be given with a blanket one size fits all approach. Homework provides teachers with a significant opportunity to meet each student where they are and truly extend learning. A teacher can give their higher-level students more challenging assignments while also filling gaps for those students who may have fallen behind. Teachers who use homework as an opportunity to differentiate we not only see increased growth in their students, but they will also find they have more time in class to dedicate to whole group instruction. See Student Participation Increase Creating authentic and differentiated homework assignments can take more time for teachers to put together. As often is the case, extra effort is rewarded. Teachers who assign meaningful, differentiated, connected homework assignments not only see student participation increase, they also see an increase in student engagement. These rewards are worth the extra investment in time needed to construct these types of assignments. Schools must recognize the value in this approach. They should provide their teachers with professional development that gives them the tools to be successful in transitioning to assign homework that is differentiated with meaning and purpose. A schools homework policy should reflect this philosophy; ultimately guiding teachers to give their students reasonable, meaningful, purposeful homework assignments. Sample School Homework Policy Homework is defined as the time students spend outside the classroom in assigned learning activities. Anywhere Schools believes the purpose of homework should be to practice, reinforce, or apply acquired skills and knowledge. We also believe as research supports that moderate assignments completed and done well are more effective than lengthy or difficult ones done poorly. Homework serves to develop regular study skills and the ability to complete assignments independently. Anywhere Schools further believes completing homework is the responsibility of the student, and as students mature they are more able to work independently. Therefore, parents play a supportive role in monitoring completion of assignments, encouraging students’ efforts and providing a conducive environment for learning. Individualized Instruction Homework is an opportunity for teachers to provide individualized instruction geared specifically to an individual student. Anywhere Schools embraces the idea that each student is different and as such, each student has their own individual needs. We see homework as an opportunity to tailor lessons specifically for an individual student meeting them where they are and bringing them to where we want them to be.   Homework contributes toward building responsibility, self-discipline, and lifelong learning habits. It is the intention of the Anywhere School staff to assign relevant, challenging, meaningful, and purposeful homework assignments that reinforce classroom learning objectives. Homework should provide students with the opportunity to apply and extend the information they have learned complete unfinished class assignments, and develop independence. The actual time required to complete assignments will vary with each student’s study habits, academic skills, and selected course load. If your child is spending an inordinate amount of time doing homework, you should contact your child’s teachers.

Kingdom of Life Essay Example for Free

Kingdom of Life Essay The Kingdom of Monera is the smallest in size in the biological world but are the most in terms of numbers. They can be found almost everywhere on earth. Monerans are the only kingdom of the prokaryotic type, organisms that lack a nucleus. The most common of this kind is the bacteria, which most people know are harmful for it causes illnesses and some degrees of food poisoning. The division of a single bacterium into two similar daughter cells constitutes the bacterial growth. This process is called binary fission which in turn promotes its population to grow exponentially. Bacteria are said to be the first inhabitants of Earth. Protozoa, fungus-like protists and the algae are the major categories under the kingdom of Protista. Members are categorized as colonial, unicellular or multi-cellular. Organisms under this kingdom are all eukaryotic, meaning they all have a true nucleus. Most undergo mitosis for their growth while some by meiosis and fertilization for their reproduction process. All organisms live in a water-based environment. Network forming which is called mycelia is the common process in which members of the kingdom of fungi grow. Fungi cause diseases in plant like smuts and rusts, while severe damage are from stem root and leaf rots. Most common in humans are athlete’s foot and ringworm among others. Animal diseases are very hard to treat because of its genetic and chemical similarity to fungi. Harmful as they may seem, some fungi members play significant roles in the ecological system. Some plants can’t grow without fungi. Breakthroughs in medicine are synthesized from fungi while others are used for food. The environment can not take form without plants. Humans can’t live without them. That is how important the kingdom of plantae is to our planet and to our lives. Said to lived 360 million years ago, plants vary in sizes, from very small kind to tall huge trees. Plants reproduce asexually and grow with the help of external factors. They are the only living organisms that are able to produce their own food through photosynthesis. Members of the kingdom Animalia are all heterotrophs. Animals, for their sustenance and survival, depends on other organisms around them. All organisms of the kingdom are eukaryotic and multicellular. Animals reproduce sexually through their special cells which when united form the zygotes that later grow into a new individual. The first recorded phyla of this kingdom was a marine specie some 542 million years ago. References: Windows Team, (1998, December 17). Windows to the Universe. Securing a Place of Power: Reinventing the Role of Women in Theatrical Representation :: Research Papers

Securing a Place of Power: Reinventing the Role of Women in Theatrical Representation In The Feminist Spectator as Critic, Jill Dolan examines the current hegemony of the â€Å"white, heterosexual, middle-class male† (121) as the subject of representation in theater. She examines why feminist attempts to expose this bias and use it to change the objectification of the roles of women have failed, when this has even been attempted, and furnishes her hypothesis on how this failure can be prevented. In the dominant illusionist tradition of American theater, the individuality of the spectator is subsumed in the singular mass of the audience. The face most often given to this mass audience is that of the â€Å"white, heterosexual, middle-class male† (121). Women’s roles are objectified, and, in the process, the feminist spectator is alienated as her gender, race, class, and/or sexual orientation have no relation to what is presented onstage. Feminism is a critique of the prevailing male-dominated social norm that seeks to change this norm and therefore is the platform from which to change its domination in theater. Dolan enumerates three segments of American feminism: liberal, cultural or radical, and materialist. She credits liberal feminism with the bolstering of female visibility and involvement in theater and acknowledges the women-affirming aspects of cultural feminism, but she finds them both flawed and unsuitable for an effective attack on the male domination of theater. Materialist feminism looks at women as a class, oppressed by material conditions and social relations. It considers gender as a social construct, in the service of the dominant culture’s ideology and accepted as normative by the less powerful, which is oppressive to both men and women. It rejects the universality of the mythical Woman and instead views women as historical subjects whose position in the social structures of the dominant culture is influenced by race, class, and sexual orientation. Materialist feminism sees as necessity the unmasking of the ideas of gender and power of the dominant culture and thus what most theater and performance represents. Materialist feminism does not aim to judge, but to examine the ways in which a performance delivers its ideological message, in order to formulate strategies for combating the oppressive cultural assumptions inherent in this message. Its goal is â€Å"to affect a larger cultural change in the ideological and material condition of women and men† (18), and it sees the necessity of politically analyzing the current condition and its representational

Parents aren’t always right, their intention is to elaborate children minds, and let them think they are always right, which they are not. since they are they the parent , they think they are right. No parent cannot be right all of the time (parents are not always right) because they would have to be perfect and there is not one person in this world that can truly claim to be perfect. Parents make mistakes, can have bad judgement at time and don’t always understand how different the world is now from when they grew up but lets face it they also have that much more experience than we do.The world isn’t a perfect place. Now whether they are right most of the time or not is a different story, but, the fact is that parents can be just as stubborn as kids. When they think they are right, they really think that they are right. Parents should give their children the chance to access their experience and knowledge, but also realize that their children aren’t them, they aren’t going to live the same way, nor will they want to be told everything, kids need to learn for themselves, even if it may hurt them, physically or emotionally and that will make them free of indoctrination and they become a free and critical thinker. We are in this world because of our parents and we are well aware of the fact that we should respect them. They always think good of us regardless of our behavior and attitude towards them. They give us instructions and advice pretty often and we have a belief that they are always right. They want to see us succeed. But are they always right?the insecurity of the parents especially in the major chunk of the middle class population of India, that determines the decision making of the parents towards their children.

U.S. Elections-Prejudices in Journalism essays

U.S. Elections-Prejudices in Journalism essays The articles used to form our class research project on the U.S. Elections were based on News finding from many different countries. The basis of most of the articles was how President Bush and Senator John Kerry were viewed upon in relations with those countries. A few other things covered were senator elections and voting. I feel that language plays a huge role in Newspaper Articles or any type of journalism for that matter. Several articles never directly take sides on the election but by the writing of certain statements leads the reader to believe in one direction. For example, in the Mexico and NAFTA report it was stated, All the major countries in the region opposed the decision by the US and Britain to attack Iraq without a second UN resolution. Kerry supported this policy, though Democrats are now trying to argue that he did so out of loyalty to servicemen about to go into action rather than because he agreed with President Bush. As the article started to put down carry, they rebutted with a comment to make Kerry appear as if he were making his decisions for the people. This continued throughout the article, continuous support of Kerry and not much recognition of Bush. Most of the articles clearing appeared to be trashing both candidates for our Presidency. The article from the Toronto Star reported in one sentence, Bushs policy, it wont work since he is, indeed, performing like a recruiting sergeant for Al Qaeda. A few paragraphs later they stated, Kerry cannot tell his voters the truth, he tells them only part of the truth, when he says it, he doesnt sound like he really believes it. Which is why Americans-as yet-dont believe in him. Another article from the Middle East reported Dr. Mohammad TabatabaI as saying, As far as Iran is concerned, both candidates in the next United States presidential elections have views which are rath ...

The relationship between justice or rights Essay

The relationship between justice or rights - Essay Example It can be noted that there is a correlation between the concepts of rights and law. As such, this paper seeks to critically analyse the relationship between rights and law. It starts by defining these two concepts in order to get a full understanding of their meanings. The main part of the paper discusses the theoretical framework underpinning these two concepts. Human rights are literally the rights that one has simply because he or she is human. Donnely (1998, p. 3) posits to the effect that â€Å"human rights, because they rest on nothing more than being human being, are universal, equal and inalienable. This means that everyone is entitled to human rights and is empowered by them regardless of creed or belief. Theoretically, Joel Feinberg: â€Å"To have a right is to have a claim to something and against someone, the recognition of which is called for by legal rules or, in the case of moral rights, by the principles of an enlightened conscience,† (1980 p. 159-160). Human beings should be treated as equal and their rights should not be violated by others. As going to be discussed in detail below, there are various institutions that are mainly concerned with protecting the rights of people in different countries. ... Thus, in different countries, respective governments lay down binding regulations that form the law of the land as enshrined in the constitution (Muller et al, 2007). As such different cases are reported to different courts and these have the power to settle issues that may exist among different people in the society. The law also stipulates that all the accused persons have the right to fair trial and they are innocent until they are proven guilty by the court. In most cases, the law is specifically meant to regulate the behaviour of different people in their societies. From the above explanations, it can be seen that there is a close relationship between the concepts of rights and law. In as far as the concept of rights is concerned, John Locke’s Second Treatise Government 1776 posits to the effect that individuals have natural rights to their lives, liberties and estates (Donnelly, 1998). In the absence of government, these rights are of little value. Therefore, the governm ent has a responsibility to ensure that the rights of the people are protected. The existence of the government and people’s rights are complimentary as they are designed to serve the interests of the people. The government is an institution that has the power to enact laws that guide the behaviour of the people in their respective countries in order to ensure that there is peace and harmony among the people. In essence, the existence of the government is mainly concerned with protection of people’s rights so that they are not violated. It can be noted that there is a close link between the concepts of law and rights. According to Locke’s philosophy of inalienable rights among the people, the government is based on social contract between the rulers and the ruled (Tackach,
